발병율과 사망률이 높은 폐암이란, 폐에 생긴 악성 종양을 말하며, 폐 자체에서 발생하거나(원발성 폐암) 다른 장기에서 생긴 암이 폐로 전이되어(예: 유방암의 폐 전이) 발생하기도 합니다. 원발성 폐암의 종류는 암세포의 크기와 형태를 기준으로 비소세포(非小細胞)폐암과 소세포(小細胞)폐암으로 구분합니다. 폐암 가운데 80~85%는 비소세포폐암인데, 이것은 다시 선암(샘암), 편평상피세포암, 대세포암 등으로 나뉩니다.
그 나머지인 소세포폐암은 전반적으로 악성도가 높아서, 발견 당시에 이미 림프관 또는 혈관을 통하여 다른 장기나 반대편 폐, 종격동(縱隔洞, 양쪽 폐 사이의 공간으로 심장, 기관, 식도, 대동맥 등이 위치함)으로 전이되어 있는 수가 많습니다.
2020년 5월 9일 (토요일) 창립 총회를 통해 설립된 한국폐암환우회. 진단도 늦게 되고, 치료도 어려운 폐암은 각종 신약들이 개발이 되고 FDA에서 승인을 받아도 우리나라의 건강보험 등재 기간이 OECD 국가중에서 제일 늑장 처리되고 있어서, 우리 환자들에게는 그림의 떡을 바라보고 있어야 하는 것과 같이, 언제나 약을 써볼 수가 있을지 희망 고문을 당하고 있는 실정입니다. 한국폐암환우회는 폐암의 완치율을 높이고 치료환경의 개선을 위하여, 오늘도 힘든 투쟁을 계속하고 있습니다.
이제 갑자기 폐암 진단을 받으시고 황망 중에 투병을 시작하시거나, 지금까지 길고 긴, 어려운 투병생활에 힘들고 지치신 환우 여러분, 투병생활을 함께 하시면서, 수고하고 계시는 보호자 여러분, 그리고 폐암에 관심을 갖고 계시는 모든 분들을 환영을 합니다
폐암은 알려진 대로 만만한 상대는 아닙니다. 그러나 우리들의 마음을 모아서 함께 한다면, 결코 이기지 못할 상대는 아닙니다. 입장과 상황이 다르더라도, 내가 겪고 있는 아픔과 어려움을 서로 나누고 힘을 모으면 능히 극복해 나갈 수 있으리라 믿습니다
우리 환우회는 동병상련의 아픔을 서로 나누고, 힘을 모으려 모였습니다. 폐암이라는 나쁜 놈도, 정부의 미온적인 정책에도, 의료진의 불성실한 진료 행위도, 하나, 하나 개선하고 극복해 나가야 합니다.
폐암환우회는, 멀고도 쉽지 않은 旅程을 서로 돕고 서로 의지하면서 여러분들과 함께 하겠습니다. 감사합니다
